About Coronavirus Emergency
April 12, 2021
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful.
Kyoto Prefecture and the City of Kyoto have requested its citizens to take necessary measures to prevent the spread of Coronavirus desease.
Based on this, and based on the Islamic teachings on importance of life and health, the administration of Kyoto Grand Mosque has been carefully taking care of prayer and mosque affairs:
1) We hold Jum'a prayers on Fridays with certain restrictions. Please follow our instructions when you attend Juma prayers.
2) For this holy month of Ramadan, we are unabel to hold single-Iftaar on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays, and we will not hold Taraweeh prayers at night in Kyoto Grand Mosque. We will not also hold I'tikaf in the last third of Ramadan in the Mosque.
3) We recommend our brothers and sisters to do these acts of worship at home.
4) As for Eid al-Fitr, we will not gahter together for it in a public place because of the Coronvirus conditions. Please pray at home.
As you may know, the same measures are taken in the two holy cities, Makka al-Mukarrama and al-Madina al-Munawwara, and many other Muslim cities.
Let us keep our du'a to Allah the Most High to ease the difficult situation and protect us against all difficulties.
Please take care of yourself and your families.
